North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ) Dependent Special District
The NBEDZ was created with the goal of facilitating job growth and economic development in the northern part of Brevard County.
Description of Boundaries:
The boundary of the NBEDZ is set forth in Section 4 (a) of the authorizing ordinance (No. 2011-16) passed by the Board of County Commissioners on May 24, 2011, the text of which is as follows: “The boundaries of the North Brevard Economic Development
are the same as the boundaries of the County Commission District One existing on January 1, 2011, but excluding those areas south of State Road 528 and the corporate limits of the city of Cocoa.”

As an economic development agency, the NBEDZ and its staff adhere to the code of ethical conduct as established by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the world’s leading
association of professional economic development organizations and professionals.
Further, the NBEDZ's executive director, Troy Post, currently holds the designation of “Certified Economic Developer,” or CEcD, a professional certification operated by the
IEDC. To maintain that certification, Mr. Post must participate in training seminars every three years, including a mandatory workshop on ethical conduct and standards. Less than 1,500
economic developers worldwide – out of an estimated 15,000 practitioners – possess the CEcD designation.
