The Brevard County Tourist Development Council (TDC) was established to promote growth, development, and quality of tourism on the Space Coast. The TDC acts as the primary body to determine direction,
goals and policy for use of the tourism tax. The Tourist Development Tax (TDT), also known as the "bed tax", currently adds a 5% tax to short-term rentals (six months or less) of hotels, motels, apartment hotels, rooming houses, RV
parks, and condominiums in Brevard County.
The TDC consists of nine (9) members appointed by the County Commission in accordance with a formula established by Florida Statute. The current members of the council are listed below. One member is the
County Commission Chair or his/her designee. Two represent municipal governments in the county. Three members represent businesses who collect bed tax and the remaining three represent tourism-related entities that do not collect a bed tax.
