County Recommends Businesses Post “Mask Required”/“Mask Not Required” Policies For Patrons

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – A proclamation that strongly encourages private businesses and business establishments in Brevard County to post at their entrances whether they have a “Mask” or “No Mask” policy was adopted by a 4-1 vote of the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday.

A business, as defined by the commission, means a location with a roof overhead under which any business is conducted, goods are made or stored or processed or where services are rendered. The term “business establishment” includes transportation network companies, such as Ubers and Lyft, vehicles operated for mass transit, taxis, limousines for hire, rental cars, and other passenger vehicles for hire. Business establishments also includes locations where non-profit, governmental, and quasi-governmental entities facilitate public interactions and conduct business, and also includes places of worship.

The proclamation strongly encourages and recommends businesses, as a courtesy to prospective patrons, to note at their entrances what policies are in place governing the use of masks at their establishments, including those that have outdoor dining options. The various municipalities throughout the county can make their own face mask policies regarding businesses.

At the request of commissioners, Brevard County Government has put together “Mask” and “No Mask” notices that are available for download that businesses can post. Those notices are located on the County website, https://www.brevardfl.gov, under the Latest News block (look for the mask!)

There are no penalties for businesses that do not post the recommended signage.
