Storm Debris Collection Info for South Patrick Shores Residents Impacted by Tornado

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – Debris collection is now underway in South Patrick Shores, where dozens of homes were impacted with roof, structure and other wind-related damages from an EF1 tornado that hit the area on June 7. Residents whose homes were hit should heed important instruction below on how to properly place and prepare storm debris for collection.

Doug Connor Inc (DCI) of Melbourne has been contracted by the County and will focus debris collection on a number of streets, including Albatross Drive, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th streets, Ocean Dr., Pelican Dr., Sea Gull Drive, Egret Drive, Herron Drive and Flamingo Drive. The company will first focus on collection of vegetative debris, like tree limbs and bushes, and then move to construction and demolition debris, fencing, etc.

The tornado hit the area south of Pineda Causeway with winds between 90-100 mph, according to the National Weather Service-Melbourne.

Please remember to avoid placing vegetative debris piles and other debris piles in front of light poles, power poles, mailboxes, fire hydrants, under tree overhangs or low-hanging wires, or against any property that has the potential to be damaged during the removal efforts.  Also, please note that as per the Brevard County Code of County Ordinances paper or plastic bags are not acceptable yard waste receptacles.
