BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – Brevard County Libraries is excited to open up the doors to the River House for new and innovative programs! These programs are designed to serve citizens in more effective and individualized ways, with the goal of creating a sense of belonging and connecting attendees to the community at large.
Recent news coverage has highlighted the loneliness “epidemic” in our country. Findings from the American Psychiatric Association state that 30% of Americans struggle with feelings of loneliness on a weekly basis. This struggle is felt particularly deeply within our elderly community, and a recent door to door survey confirmed that this is the case within Brevard County.
Brevard County Libraries recognized the need to combat loneliness and rebuild social connections within our community. In order to achieve this, they aim to provide a cozy, low-tech space for community members of all ages at the recently renovated River House. Here, attendees can connect with each other and learn new skills. Youth and senior reading events, art and music classes, gardening workshops, and fun with fiber arts are just a few of the amazing programs that will be hosted at the River House.
The River House is located adjacent to the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library and is open to the public during scheduled events and program hours. Visit our Event Calendar and select River House under locations to view upcoming programs: https://brevardfl.gov/PublicLibraries/LibraryCalendar
