BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – UF/ IFAS Brevard County Extension Services is excited to offer some wonderful programs for youth with disabilities:
4-H Soccer for Success- Open to youth with disabilities ages 6 and up. They will meet at the Space Coast Community Sports Complex, 662 Canaveral Groves Blvd, Cocoa, FL 32926, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Start date TBD, Cost will be $50.00, this will include enrollment in 4-H.
Barnyard Challengers- (Locations both in Wickham Park and the Cocoa Extension office) Open to youth with disabilities ages 8 and up who would like to participate in an animal project. Youth will be paired up with mentors to learn about poultry, with the opportunity to participate in the Brevard County Fair. Youth don’t need their own chicken to participate. 4-H enrollment required (cost is $25.00). They will meet on select Mondays starting in September 2025.
Barnyard Challengers Mentor Program- Open to youth ages 13 and up who would like to volunteer and assist youth with disabilities enrolled in the Barnyard Challengers project. This mentorship will focus on learning and showing poultry for the 2026 Brevard County Fair. No poultry experience necessary.
Roots to Work- Open to young adults with a disability (18+) who want to learn horticulture hands-on skills for future employment in agriculture. Starting on September 5, meeting every Friday from 9:30 am to noon at the Cocoa office.
