UF/IFAS Extension Brevard County Announces Exciting Lineup of August & September Events



BREVARD COUNTY, FL. - August is here, and the UF/IFAS Extension in Brevard County is offering a wide variety of educational and family-friendly events for residents of all ages. Mark your calendars and join us for one or more of these exciting programs:

  • Canning: Jams & Jellies-Tuesday, August 14, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM-Come learn how to can your own Jam! We only have a few spots left in this fun evening class.
  • Backyard Chicken Training-Wednesday, August 20, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Come learn how to raise your own backyard chickens at our fun and informative class. Sign up here! Location: 3695 Lake Drive, Cocoa, FL 32926. 
  • Brevard County 4-H Open House-Saturday, August 16, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Meet 4-H leaders and members, explore club opportunities, and find the right fit for your family. Learn more about 4-H. Location: 3695 Lake Drive, Cocoa, FL 32926
  • Pollinator Census in the Brevard Discovery Garden: The Great Southeast Pollinator Census!-Friday, August 22 & Saturday, August 23, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM-Join us in the garden to learn about pollinators and participate in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census.
  • Cape Canaveral Veterans Park Pollinator Census-Friday, August 22, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM-Attend a short training session followed by a live pollinator count. Location: Veterans Memorial Park, 265 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
  • Cooking the Mediterranean Way: Med Instead of Meds-Wednesdays, August 21 – September 25 at 10:00 AM or 6:00 PM-Join our six-week series to learn how to adopt the delicious and heart-healthy Mediterranean lifestyle.
  • Butterfly Appreciation Day-Wednesday, September 3,10:00 AM – 12:00 PM-Celebrate butterflies with the Master Gardener Volunteers and Merritt Island Wildlife Association! Location: Brevard Discovery Garden, 3695 Lake Dr., Cocoa, FL 32926
  • EmpowerU!: 8-week Advocacy Training Program-Beginning September 15- November 8, Hybrid 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM-Join us to develop your communication skills and learn how to meaningfully engage decision-makers about issues you are concerned about.
