CDC COVID-19 Things You Need to Know
According to the CDC, COVID-19 cases are rising, and provides the following information to slow the spread.
Three Important Ways to Slow the Spread:
- Wear a mask to protect yourself and others and stop the spread of COVID-19.
- Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from others who don’t live with you.
- Avoid crowds. The more people you are in contact with, the more likely you are to be exposed to COVID-19.

Vaccine Key Points
Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations will be begin distribution on Monday, January 4, 2021 for individuals 65 plus and health care workers with direct patient contact and who aren’t affiliated with a hospital system
- At this time, all appointments have been filled. There is no wait list and walk-ups are not accepted
- As additional vaccine doses are received, more appointments will be made available
- Everyone’s patience is appreciated
Individuals receiving a vaccine are required to bring:
- COVID-19 Vaccine Screening and Consent Form
- Identification form (driver's license, passport, healthcare badge, etc.)
- Vaccine appointment ticket (only applicable to those who made their appointments via the on-line registration)
- A Doctor’s consent letter is required for those who have bleeding disorder, are on blood thinner/blood-thinning medication, pregnant, could become pregnant or breastfeeding
- Dose quantity/accessibility will determine appointment availability. New appointments will be released as additional vaccines are confirmed.
New vaccine appointment notifications will be issued by press release, social media, and via alerts that you can receive on your mobile phone from the AlertBrevard.
To register for text alerts, simply create a new text message on your mobile phone to 888777 and in the text message body write BrevardEOC and hit send.

- Testing available for adults and children of all ages
- Rapid antigen tests with results in as soon as 15 minutes now available
- Insurance information will be requested but is not required to receive a test
- There will be no copay or any fee charged
- Identification is no longer required but does expedite the process

8 Things to Know about the U.S. COVID-19 Vaccination Program
- The safety of COVID-19 vaccines is a top priority.
- COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you from getting COVID-19. Two doses are needed.
- CDC is making recommendations for who should be offered COVID-19 vaccine first when supplies are limited.
- There is currently a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine in the United States, but supply will increase in the weeks and months to come.
- After COVID-19 vaccination, you may have some side effects. This is a normal sign that your body is building protection.
- Cost is not an obstacle to getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
- The first COVID-19 vaccines are being used under Emergency Use Authorizations (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Many other vaccines are still being developed and tested.
- COVID-19 vaccines are one of many important tools to help us stop this pandemic.
