Vaccine Operation Highlights

Florida Department of Health - Brevard, and the partners they support, have provided 114,998 vaccines since January 4, 2021

The Florida Department of Health has made adjustments to the COVID-19 dashboard and switched to weekly reports

Per the Florida Department of Health, the total number of residents vaccinated in Brevard County is 289,376 (as of 6/10)

54% of those 12 plus

DOH has partnered with Library Services, Emergency Management and Health Heroes to conduct a Pfizer vaccine operation with an emphasis on increasing vaccine availability for children 12-17, but is open to anyone 12+ (second dose dates/location on page 2 )

DOH is coordinating with the local business community to establish vaccine outreach missions

For information on food pantry locations and how to access additional help, utilize the United Way of Brevard’s COVID-19 Community Resource guide.

Brevard County Public Schools continue to offer meals for all children up to 18 years old at various food distribution sites.

  • Food distribution sites are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at several local Brevard County Public School locations.
  • A seven-day-meal package program is being offered on Wednesdays only and requires pre-registration.

The Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department will participate in the Summer Break Spot Program beginning Monday, June 7, and running through Friday, August 6, 2021. Any child age 18 or younger can receive a meal.

  • Meals will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis; child must be present to receive food. Children may consume the meal at the site or take it with them. At lunchtime, on Fridays, children can receive a shelf stable weekend meal to take home, along with their lunch meal.
  • 12 Brevard Community Centers will be participating

Summer Meal Distribution

Free for children 18 and under. Each child will receive a meal package containing 7 breakfast meals and lunch meals.

Meal Distribution Services Every Wednesday.

Meal Kit distribution dates are:

June 9, June 16, June 23, June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, and July 28.

Meals will be distributed to children to children ages 18 and younger in the bus or car loop. Parents / guardians may pick up meals without their child being present provided they have a form of their child's ID with them. Examples of valid forms of ID are as follows: student ID card, child's birth certificate, child's passport, government-issued child ID card, or a document proving parent / guardian identity and relationship to the child such as a hospital, religious, or day care record.

Brevard County Updates

Brevard County Government has a limited amount of funds to assist families who have lost a loved one due to Coronavirus.

The application for the program is available at the Community Action Agency (Dr. Joe Lee Smith Community Center, 415 Stone Street, Cocoa, FL 32922), or via Brevard County’s Housing and Human Services website

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cause of death on the death certificate must be directly or indirectly related to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • Example of indirect –heart attack (main) exacerbated by coronavirus
  • Brevard resident
  • Household income must be below 150% of poverty ($39,300 for a family of 4)

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program provides financial assistance and housing stability services for those impacted by COVID-19

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Applicant is a resident of Brevard County.
  • Applicant is at or below 80% of Area Median Income.
  • The applicant must sign all required documents or their application will be rejected/denied.
  • Documentation of all income from the entire Household as reported on the Household Income Section of the application (include 2 months of bank statements, pay stubs, etc., or a 2020 tax return (IRS Form 1040)).
  • All members of a household must be accounted for in the application.
  • For applications filled out by hand, please make sure that the writing is clear and legible.

  • 601 (71%) from municipalities
  • 245 (29%) from County (unincorporated)

Brevard County EOC will return to a Level 3 on Friday, June, 25th. This will be the last community report.

Per the CDC, as of June 23, more than 319 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the United States and 61.7% of the entire United States population over 12 has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine

The current 7-day moving average of daily new cases (13,997) decreased 6.0% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (14,890). Compared with the highest peak on January 10, 2021 (251,834), the current 7-day average decreased 94.4%.

The White House announced that the United States is donating half a billion vaccines to countries around the world because it's the right thing to do –and because as long as this virus has a hold somewhere in the world, we're all at risk.

The CDC issued guidance for fully vaccinated individuals within the United States. Per the guidance, they can now can resume activities that were done prior to the pandemic without wearing a mask or social distancing; except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, workplace guidance, rules, and regulations
