Vaccine Operation Highlights

Florida Department of Health - Brevard, and the partners they support, have provided 114,272 vaccines since January 4, 2021

The Florida Department of Health has made adjustments to the COVID-19 dashboard and switched to weekly reports.

Per the Florida Department of Health, the total number of residents vaccinated in Brevard County is 278,647 (as of 6/3)

52% of those 12 plus

BCFR’s vaccine outreach program Operation:

  • Total vaccinated: 1,105
    • 1st dose: 655
    • 2nd dose: 450
  • This operation is complete as of 6/4
  • Anyone who still needs a homebound vaccine can utilize the State’s homebound program (

Emergency Management, in collaboration with Parks and Recreation, Florida Division of Emergency Management and community partners brought the Mobile Vaccine Van to Brevard County

  • Total shots for the Mobile Vaccine Van is: 251

DOH has partnered with Library Services, Emergency Management and Health Heroes to conduct a Pfizer vaccine operation with an emphasis on increasing vaccine availability for children 12-17, but is open to anyone 12+

DOH is coordinating with the local business community to establish vaccine outreach missions

DOH is offering both the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines at this site.

Appointments are no longer required.

Individuals will now be required to verbally confirm, if they are a Florida resident or if they are in the state for the purpose of providing goods and services in Florida.

For information on food pantry locations and how to access additional help, utilize the United Way of Brevard’s COVID-19 Community Resource guide.

Brevard County Public Schools continue to offer meals for all children up to 18 years old at various food distribution sites.

The Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department will participate in the Summer Break Spot Program beginning Monday, June 7, and running through Friday, August 6, 2021. Any child age 18 or younger can receive a meal.

  • Meals will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis; child must be present to receive food. Children may consume the meal at the site or take it with them. At lunchtime, on Fridays, children can receive a shelf stable weekend meal to take home, along with their lunch meal.
  • 12 Brevard Community Centers will be participating

Brevard County Updates

Brevard County Government has a limited amount of funds to assist families who have lost a loved one due to Coronavirus.

The application for the program is available at the Community Action Agency (Dr. Joe Lee Smith Community Center, 415 Stone Street, Cocoa, FL 32922), or via Brevard County’s Housing and Human Services website

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cause of death on the death certificate must be directly or indirectly related to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • Example of indirect –heart attack (main) exacerbated by coronavirus
  • Brevard resident
  • Household income must be below 150% of poverty ($39,300 for a family of 4)

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program provides financial assistance and housing stability services for those impacted by COVID-19

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Applicant is a resident of Brevard County.
  • Applicant is at or below 80% of Area Median Income.
  • The applicant must sign all required documents or their application will be rejected/denied.
  • Documentation of all income from the entire Household as reported on the Household Income Section of the application (include 2 months of bank statements, pay stubs, etc., or a 2020 tax return (IRS Form 1040)).
  • All members of a household must be accounted for in the application.
  • For applications filled out by hand, please make sure that the writing is clear and legible.

Per the CDC, as of June 9, more than 303 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the United States and 61.2% of the entire United States population over 12 has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine

CDC recommends pregnant people and those breastfeeding receive the COVID-19 vaccine as they are more likely to get severely ill with COVID-19 compared with non-pregnant people

The current 7-day moving average of daily new cases (14,349) decreased 35.2% compared with the previous 7-day moving average (22,139). Compared with the highest peak on January 9, 2021 (251,374), the current 7-day average decreased 94.3%.

The CDC reports that 140.4 million people have been fully vaccinated as of June 9. This refers to the number of people who have received the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series, or one dose of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

The CDC issued guidance for fully vaccinated individuals within the United States. Per the guidance, they can now can resume activities that were done prior to the pandemic without wearing a mask or social distancing; except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, workplace guidance, rules, and regulations
