BREVARD COUNTY, FL. -- A failing manhole cover is prompting the emergency closure of a section of S. Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island, beginning mid-morning Thursday, (April 10). The repair could take two days and possibly through the weekend.
The manhole is located on S. Courtenay Parkway south of Cone Road, and between N. Tropical Trail and Orchid Lane. A temporary repair is in place, and the emergency closing will not prevent bus routes from reaching schools Thursday morning before the shutdown takes place.
After 9 a.m., motorists are encouraged to take this alternative route: Heading south on S. Courtenay Parkway take Cone Road west to Tropical Trail, then south to Brandy Lane and then back onto S. Courtenay Parkway.
