CDC recommendations for keeping yourself and your pet safe during COVID
The CDC updated its frequently ask questions webpage on COVID and Animals. The FAQ include information on Stay healthy around animals, protecting your pet if you are sick, and using a daycare or a groomer.

Small Business Grant Available
Visit the Brevard CARES website for access to the Small Business and Nonprofit Organizations grant online application .
Small businesses and nonprofit organizations may be eligible for grants of up to $10,000 to offset expenses and lost revenue related to impacts from COVID-19.
Application period remains open.
Mortgage Assistance Program
Applicants for the Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program, Utility and Security Deposit Program, and a Food Stability Program must review and submit all of the required documents and attachments to qualify for assistance as instructed on the
Housing and Human Services Coronavirus Assistance Program application form
Farmer's Markets
The UF/Brevard Extension Service is hosting two farmer’s market locations where eligible residents can obtain CARES Act dollars for vendor purchases.
Thursdays at Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive Melbourne, 3-6 PM
Fridays at the Welcome Center, 419 South Hopkins Avenue, Titusville, 3-6 PM
1st / 3rd Saturdays at Riverview Park in Melbourne from 10am - 3pm
2nd / 4th Saturday at 4220 Dixie Highway NE in Palm Bay from 10am - 2pm
Community Feeding Operations
For information on food pantry locations and how to access help, utilize the United Way of Brevard’s COVID-19 Community Resource guide.
It is recommended that you call ahead to verify availability.
Effective today, Brevard County Public Schools continue to offer meals for all children up to 18 years old at various food distribution sites through December 31.
Food distribution locations are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The county has partnered with the Children’s Hunger Project to distribute 42,075 weekend meals to date
To date, Brevard County’s “Pop up Pantry” feeding operation has distributed 2.15 million meals. From 10/13 –10/20, served approximately 2,858 cars and 29 walk-ups for a total 3,107 families

State / National Highlights
The Florida Department of Health released recommendations for staying safe during Halloween activities. These include:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after preparing goodie bags
- While visiting a pumpkin patches or orchards use hand sanitizer before touching pumpkins or picking apples
- Attend a small, outdoor and open-air costume parade or have a virtual costume contest
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is partnering with CVS and Walgreens to offer on-site COVID-19 vaccination services for residents of Long-Term Care Facilities. The CDC updated COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Guidance. Travel increases your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19 depending on whether you and those around you take steps to protect yourself and others; such as wearing masks and
staying 6 feet away from people outside your household. Airports, bus stations, train stations, and rest stops are all places travelers can be exposed to thevirus in the air and on surfaces. These are also places where it can be hard to keep your
distance from others. In general, the longer you arearound a person with COVID-19, the more likely you are to get infected.
