EOC Activation Day 411

When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. Based on what we know about COVID-19 vaccines, people who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some things that they had stopped doing because of the pandemic.

We’re still learning how vaccines will affect the spread of COVID-19. After you’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions—like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces—in public places until we know more.

These recommendations can help you make decisions about daily activities after you are fully vaccinated. They are not intended for healthcare settings.

Have You Been Fully Vaccinated?

People are considered fully vaccinated:

  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

If you don’t meet these requirements, you are NOT fully vaccinated. Keep taking all precautions until you are fully vaccinated.

State and National Updates

As part of the Governor’s partnership with faith-based groups to reach underserved communities, the Church of our Savior will hold their second dose vaccination event on Saturday, April 24

The CDC and FDA recommended a pause use for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Watch Dr. Fauci answers questions about what you need to know about the pause

  • The Johnson &Johnson vaccine pause is not a stop, nor a recall
  • The action was taken out of an abundance of caution as a result of very rare but serious adverse events related to blood clots
  • A primary reason for the pause is to ensure that the health care provider community is aware of the potential for these adverse events and can plan for proper recognition and management due to the unique treatment required with type of blood clot

Per the CDC, as of April 21, more than 215 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the United States and 40.5% of the entire United States population over the age of 18 have been vaccinated.

As of Tuesday, April 20, the four federally-supported vaccine sites in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando & Miami will begin offering first doses of the Pfizer vaccine for individuals ages 16+ to supplement pervious J&J efforts.
