Exploring the Shipwrecks and Marine Life off the Coast of New York

Melbourne Beach
8385 S. Highway A1A

Join Suzanne and Glenn Rankin for an underwater video presentation at the Barrier Island Center. In this second journey of the series, “Colors of the Sea,” they’ll be exploring the biodiversity of marine life which thrive in the cooler, temperate waters of our northeast coast. "Swim" throughout the eelgrass beds in protected bays and discuss the importance of a healthy estuary. Before heading out the inlet towards the open sea, explore life on a rock jetty that prevents two barrier islands from closing. Finally, dive to the ocean floor where many shipwrecks provide homes for a variety of creatures that inhabit the deeper waters.
