Spend Your Summer on the Space Coast with Brevard County Libraries!

Join Brevard County Libraries for an out of this world Summer Reading Program! You and your family will have a blast reading all summer long with cosmically fun events and activities offered at each library in the Brevardian Galaxy. Last year, our community read for 1 million minutes during the Summer Reading Program – Brevard County Libraries needs your help to beat that record!

Summer on the Space Coast reading challenge May 31 to July 26.

From May 31st to July 26th, readers of any age can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge. Track your reading minutes with the Beanstack app to earn digital badges. 

Your reading minutes can be time spent reading independently, being read to, or listening to an audiobook. Each time you earn a digital badge, you become eligible for prizes, and you’ll also be able to pick up a Brag Tag from your local library!

Summer Reading Program prizes.

When you track your reading minutes with the Beanstack app you earn digital badges.  Each time you earn a digital badge, you become eligible for prizes, and you’ll also be able to pick up a Brag Tag from your local library!

All readers aged 0 – 18 years, who earn at least one digital badge, will be entered to win a grand prize – Astro Adventurer Kits courtesy of the Eau Gallie Rotary Club. These packages include telescopes, books, and tools for viewing the stars and planets!

Read and Ride bus.

With special thanks to Space Coast Area Transit, the Read and Ride bus program has returned! Youth aged 18 and under can ride Space Coast Area Transit for free all summer long with a valid library card. The Read and Ride program will run from May 29, 2025 to August 10, 2025.

Stop by any Brevard County Library to register for a library card; a parent or guardian must be present. Learn more about how to register for a library card!

Sunshine state young readers awards.

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program for students in grades K through 8. It encourages students to read independently for pleasure and is meant to help to improve their reading fluency. Sunshine State books are selected annually for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.

Florida teens read.

Florida Teens Reads is designed to entice teens in grades 9 through 12 to read. In order to spark their interest and to provide a spur to critical thinking, the book selections engage high school students by reflecting their interests as well as representing a variety of genres, formats, reading levels, viewpoints, and ethnic and cultural perspectives.
