Addressing Opioid Use Disorders in Brevard County

Notice is hereby given that the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners through the National Opioid Abatement Settlement Proceeds Grant has been allocated $5,910,640.

The application process began on August 22,2025 for eligible agencies to apply for the funding.

There will be a mandatory Technical Assistance meeting on Thursday September 4, 2025, at 10:00 am, 2725 Judge Fran Jameson way, Viera in the Atlantic Room Bldg. C 2nd Floor of the Government Center.

There are four main strategies that must be met to qualify for the funds:

  1. Support People in Treatment
  2. Prevent Misuse of Opioids
  3. Address the Needs of Criminal Justice Involved Persons
  4. Other Areas of Concentration

Proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Substantial Amendment To The 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 Annual Action Plans

Brevard County proposes to amend its 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plans as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the local Citizen Participation Plan to identify specific unencumbered funds within the approved Action Plans, which will be adjusted/amended to allow for the early payoff (defeasement) of a Section 108 Loan (Note Number: B-14-UC-12-0011-A) with a note date of 3/28/2019.

This Amendment identifies the funding and location of available, unencumbered funds ($1,082,724.70) from the 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 Action Plans. Specifically, $879,000 in CDBG funds will be used for the payoff (defeasement) of the Section 108 Loan used to construct a Health Department in Melbourne, FL and $203,724.79 for speed humps on Schoolhouse Lane, Lucas Terrace in Merritt Island, Minnie Street in Cocoa, and Myrtle Ave.in Mims.

Public Notice of Funding Availability Fiscal Year 2023-2024 State Housing Initiatives Partnership

Notice is hereby given that the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners through the Housing and Human Services Department has been allocated an estimated $3,955,164 for 2023-2024 and has an estimated $1,574,531.60 in carryforward funds.

We will begin accepting applications, on July 1, 2024, from eligible homeowners for:

Homeownership- Purchase Assistance Homeownership-Limited, Occupied Repairs and Occupied Rehabilitation Homeownership- Demolition/Reconstruction Homeowner-Acquisition Rehabilitation

A Request for Proposals will be issued for the following:

  • Homeownership-Acquisition Rehabilitation/New Construction
  • Rental-Rehabilitation/New Construction

2024 Request for Proposals for Local Government Contribution for Florida Housing Finance Corporation Programs

The Brevard County Housing and Human Services Department has established an application for developers applying for Florida Housing Finance Corporation tax credits, State Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL) funds, and/or revenue bonds for a proposed development located in Unincorporated Brevard County and the cities. Proposals will be accepted from an applicable Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and must be received no later than 11:00 AM. on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
