  • Ancestry Library Edition Ancestry Library Edition - Census data, family records, local histories, tax lists, city directories, land and probate records, birth, marriage and death records, etc.
    * Ancestry is allowing free remote access until December 31, 2021. This program will be re-evaluated monthly as this is a temporary measure.

  • HeritageQuest - Over 1.2 billion records in a comprehensive source of information for genealogical and local history research.
    * Because of licensing restrictions, this database is only accessible in the Genealogical Collection at Central Brevard Library and Reference Center.
  • Ask a Librarian - “The Human Search Engine”, truly says it all! Ask a Librarian is administered by the Tampa Bay Library Consortium, and provides Florida residents with free virtual reference services with a librarian through live chat and text messaging from 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday (ET), and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday (ET). Email is available to patrons 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Black Freedom Struggle in the United States, by ProQuest. Featuring over 1,600 primary source documents related to critical people and events in African American history, from 1790 through the Contemporary Era.
  • Community Services Information - Brevard 2-1-1, an online directory of health and human services resources in Brevard County.
  • Morningstar - Investment resource specialized in fund investing. Access from outside Brevard County Public Libraries will require a library card.
  • NewsStream by Proquest - Full-text access to newspapers from the southeast including the Florida Today!
  • Overdrive - access to hundreds of e-books and e-audiobooks for kids, teens and adults as well as magazines. And don't miss out on the Gutenberg Collection with classics from Tarzan to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
  • ProQuest - Digital microfilm of the Florida Today newspaper from January 2010 to present. Access from outside Brevard County Public Libraries will require a library card.

  • Value Line Database - Provides investment research on stocks, mutual funds, options and convertibles, and offers a family of no-load mutual funds. Access from outside Brevard County Public Libraries will require a library card.

  • Florida Electronic Library - The Florida Electronic Library is a gateway to select Internet resources that offers access to comprehensive, accurate, and reliable information. Available resources include electronic magazines, newspapers, almanacs, encyclopedias, and books, providing information on topics such as current events, education, business, technology, and health issues.
  • Khan Academy: Do you need to brush up on math, art, computer coding, or prepare for the SAT? Khan Academy has resources for you! A free app is available for Android and iOS. Khan Academy Kids also has resources tailored for younger grade levels.
  • Crash Course & Crash Course Kids: Engaging and high-quality video content covering a range of topics from world history to astronomy. Content is developed in partnership with PBS Digital Studios and aligns with many state level educational standards. Videos are freely available on YouTube.  Crash Course Kids features content for younger students.
  • SciShow & SciShow Kids:  Engaging and high-quality video content covering many different science topics developed in partnership with PBS Digital Studios. Videos are freely available on YouTube. SciShow Kids features content for younger students.
  • PBS Design Squad: Hands-on STEAM challenges from PBS Digital Studios. Activities use easy to find materials and all content is free. Activities are designed for K-12 students.
  • Smithsonian Open Access: Explore the collections of the Smithsonian- from the comfort of your home.  Through the Smithsonian Open Access site, you can locate items from throughout the Smithsonian collection- and use the images provided on the site for your assignments!
  • CIA World Factbook:  Want to learn quick facts on countries around the world? Check out this resource compiled by the CIA! It has profile pages on each country containing facts about the people, resources, climate, and government.
